I am enjoying the Doodle games, though I wonder how high you have to score to get 3 Gold stars.
I played basketball! #GoogleDoodle — Score: 21
The number 1 coach on this list, John Wooden, had this to say about the number 11 coach on this list, Morgan Wootten "People say Morgan Wootten is the best high school basketball coach in the country. I disagree. I know of no finer coach at any level – high school, college, or pro. I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it here: I stand in awe of him."
I can also attest to Coach Wooten's prowess as a history teacher; I really enjoyed that whole year, I have to say. Working with Coach one semester in the Athleteic Office at DeMatha was great fun, and gave me the opportunity to see first hand how a great leader inspires respect, and what it means when players love their coach. I guess a record of 1,274-192 helps, and ending Lew Alcindor-led Power Memorial's 71 game winning streak didn't hurt, either.
I am sure it is still true that at DeMatha, 'Coach' is the highest honorific you can bestow on an educator; this applies to STEM, Music and, yes, Athletics. Oh, and if you're getting Coach that cuppa tea, make sure it has a shot of milk in it, and one sugar.

Grading a coach, the leader of a team, the teacher of young students, is an art buried far beneath the surface. Forget the spitting, yelling and stomping. Never judge a book by its cover…
