The baby’s heart was shaped unusually, so doctors wanted to practice on an exact replica before the operation. With the help of the synthetic heart, they completed it in one shot.

The printer will be used to make things like tools and replacement parts. NASA also wants to see what happens when things are 3-D printed in zero gravity. The printer was built by Made in Space.
